NYC-based non-profit organization is seeking Contract Attorneys for an ongoing remote opportunity supporting high-impact habeas and detention matters in New Jersey.
\n \nDetails:
\n• $125/hour
\n• Ongoing contract anticipated to last 5+ months
\n• Part-time schedule: approximately 15–30 hours/week at the candidate’s discretion
\n• Fully remote aside from any required court appearances
\n \nRequirements:
\n• Admission to federal court required
\n• Habeas corpus experience required
\n \nKey Responsibilities:
\n• File and litigate habeas corpus petitions on behalf of clients detained out of state
\n• Conduct emergency legal research and draft filings under tight deadlines
\n• Interview and counsel clients and families with sensitivity to trauma and crisis
\n• Coordinate with local counsel, public defenders, and advocacy groups to gather supporting documentation
\n• Appear in court as needed
\n• Maintain detailed records of case activity and communications
